Local investment group buys Highland Park apartment property
A local group recently purchased a Highland Park area apartment building. In a deal that closed Oct. 4, Engel Realty purchased Americana Apartments at 1312 34th St. S. in the Highland Park area. Matt Butler represented Engel while Wes Cline of Hydinger Stewart & Chew represented the sellers in the deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. American, Southwest lead way to big traffic increase at BHM
Every airline serving Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport posted year-over-year traffic growth in August, even as airlines decreased their flight schedules due to the end of the summer vacation season. Overall traffic at BHM rose 11 percent, paced by American Airlines Group Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) with a 11.8 percent increase. Southwest Airlines Co. Birmingham cybersecurity company acquires Denver-based fintech platform
BankerAdvice, a platform that offers financial institutions compliance, technology and cybersecurity solutions, has acquired Denver-based financial analytics company FIMAC Solutions LLC. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Floral retailer going out of business in Southside
A florist in Birmingham’s Southside neighborhood is going out of business. Ed and Pam Boylen are closing Martin Flowers at 2101 University Blvd. The floral retailer ceased business last week and is currently selling off inventory. The business will vacate the building Oct. 31. The shop opened in 1997, and Pam Boylen said it’s been a good run. Boylen said the couple had been planning to retire for the past few years.
